Valerie A. Edwards

 

A senior member of our Litigation Group and highly respected member of the litigation bar, Valerie brings more than 40 years of experience to her practice that encompasses all manner of civil and commercial litigation.

Leveraging her strong advocacy skills, Valerie has gained extensive experience acting as both trial and appellate counsel, appearing before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. She has expertise in commercial litigation, including partnership and shareholder lawsuits, contract disputes, real estate litigation matters, and lawsuits involving fiduciaries and departing employees. She also has an extensive professional liability practice.

Committed to service excellence, Valerie invests considerable time getting to know her clients and their unique circumstances at the outset of each new case to ensure she advises them in a manner that will optimize their chances of a favourable outcome. In addition to her extensive knowledge and strategic approach, clients can count on Valerie’s responsiveness, attention to detail and big picture mindset, never leaving a stone unturned as she tirelessly advocates on their behalf.

Valerie is a frequent speaker at Continuing Education Seminars sponsored by the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association on various substantive law and procedural issues. She is also a former lecturer at the University of Toronto and with the Bar Admission Section (Civil Litigation and Risk Management) of the Law Society of Ontario.

As a testament to her outstanding professional capabilities, Valerie has been ranked in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory in the area of Professional Liability, as was named “Lawyer of the Year” in the area of Professional Malpractice Law in 2022. She was also recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada in the areas of Alternative Dispute Resolution, Corporate and Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law, Legal Malpractice Law and Professional Malpractice Law.
