Robert Barbiero to co-chair OBA Health Law Program - The Long-Term Care Homes Public Inquiry: Lessons Learned and What Comes Next
Robert Barbiero of our Health Law Group is co-chairing the OBA Health Law Program regarding lessons learned from the public inquiry. This event is being held on November 14th in Toronto.
The Long-Term Care Homes Public Inquiry was established on August 1, 2017 following Elizabeth Wettlaufer’s conviction for first degree murder and other criminal offences committed while she was working as a registered nurse at several long-term care homes. The Inquiry looked at the circumstances which led to these tragic events, including the effect, if any, of relevant policies, procedures, practices, and accountability and oversight mechanisms. Join us for a panel discussion with leading experts directly involved in the Inquiry hearings who will examine the Inquiry’s Final Report released July 31, 2019, the lessons learned, and what changes may be on the horizon.
