Annie (Qurrat-ul-ain) Tayyab

Annie is an associate in our Litigation Group with a practice that encompasses all aspects of commercial litigation and other forms of dispute resolution.

Leveraging her strong negotiation skills and pragmatic approach, Annie routinely advocates on behalf of a broad range of clients, from individuals to corporations. Annie regularly appears before the Commercial List on shareholder and partnership disputes, and has significant experience with various other contractual disputes and regulatory proceedings, as well as defending lawyers in professional liability claims. She also counsels clients on commercial leasing disputes and other general real estate litigation matters. In her previous roles, Annie gained extensive experience in high-stakes litigation, including multi-jurisdictional class actions and competition law. She has appeared before Courts of Appeal throughout the country and has made written submissions to the Supreme Court of Canada.

Keeping clients’ best interest top of mind, Annie invests time at the outset of each matter to understand clients’ unique circumstances, needs and priorities, so she can help them navigate their case effectively. Drawing from her varied educational background and interests, Annie considers challenges from several perspectives before proposing creative solutions to yield optimal outcomes.

To complement her practice, Annie is a sought-after speaker on various litigation-related topics, including civil procedure, contract disputes and securities litigation. She has held numerous leadership positions in various professional associations. She is currently the Treasurer of the South Asian Bar Association, Committee Member of the Young Advocates’ Standing Committee of The Advocates’ Society and Committee Member of the Ontario Class Actions Bench-Bar Liaison Committee. She volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario and actively participates in several mentorship programs.
