Ida Sherkat

An articling student at Torkin Manes, Ida graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she was the recipient of the Blake Cassels & Graydon LLP Prize in Business Associations, awarded to a student who obtained the highest standing in the subject of Business Associations.

As a law student, Ida worked with the legal team at Toyota Financial Services and summered with Torkin Manes. To enrich her scholastic and professional life, she has always prioritized giving back to the community through various initiatives. During her time at Osgoode, she was a caseworker at Fair Change Community Services, a legal clinic serving street-involved individuals, where she leveraged her advocacy skills by helping individuals reduce their fines for provincial ticket offences. She also worked on appeals with the goal of suspending sentences for clients to assist in reducing the financial burdens associated with street-living.

While at Queen’s University, Ida volunteered at a food bank and aided in connecting students with supports in the community. She also spent time volunteering at Kingston General Hospital to support surgical patients and their families through their recovery.
