Leonard Rodness acts extensively for developers involved in all areas of commercial, industrial and residential property development, as well as for borrowers and institutional and private lenders in secured lending transactions and for both landlords and tenants in commercial and residential leasing matters.

Len's commercial real estate practice crosses a broad spectrum of real estate matters. It focuses on the acquisition, development, sale, leasing and financing of commercial, industrial and residential properties. His clients benefit from his wide-ranging depth of knowledge and expertise.

Len represents some of Canada's most prominent developers and owners of regional shopping centres, as well as developers and owners of other types of commercial and industrial properties. He has developed significant expertise in the acquisition, development and financing of all types of commercial properties. His experience in co-ordinating a legal team, smoothly co-ordinating all due diligence matters, including title and off-title searches, leases, zoning, development potential reviews and environmental and other property related concerns, gives his clients the confidence necessary to make business decisions based on his advice. Len has developed a particular expertise in dealing with the issues arising from the multiple ownership of shopping centres, including severances of properties, reciprocal operating agreements, cross easements, restrictive covenants and cost sharing matters.

Working extensively with other members of our Commercial Real Estate Group, Len has also developed an expertise in drafting and reviewing cost sharing agreements for residential developments. In addition, he has been retained by public sector agencies in connection with the sale and divestiture of Crown assets and extensively in connection with leasing matters, both where the public sector is a landlord, and a tenant.

Len received his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1986 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1988. He is a partner of the firm and heads our Commercial Real Estate Group.
